What we've learned servicing pools here
Forest Hill's biggest service quirk is the combination of high saltwater adoption with mature tree canopy. CYA (cyanuric acid / stabilizer) management is the unsung hero here. Tree-cover means longer pump run times, which means more chlorine production from the salt cell, which means CYA climbs steadily across the season as the stabilizer in salt is not consumed but accumulates. Most service companies wait until CYA crosses 110 ppm to act; by then sanitization is already weakened and the cell is working harder than it should. We test CYA every three weeks on Forest Hill saltwater pools and dilute via partial fresh-water exchange when it crosses 90 ppm — the cell pays the price otherwise.
